Join Us: Cleats for Our Soccer Community

I am raising money so that three of my soccer teammates, all of whom are asylum-seekers from West Africa, can purchase cleats. Our soccer league is based on self-organization, mutual aid, and community building with and for recently-arrived asylum seekers. The hope is that participants feel welcomed and valued by the soccer community of New York City and that each gathering can offer resources and helpful connections. Cleats are essential for safety because the slippery astroturf we play on can cause injuries for folks without appropriate footwear.
