UPDATE: GOVERNMENT HAVE SUBMITTED THEIR GROUNDS AGAINST THE CASE:
Link to Government Grounds of Resistance

The U.K. Government is facing Judicial Review in the High Court of Justice because The Mental Health Act in the U.K. (England) was changed to allow 1 person to sign off on detaining a person and possibly medicating for weeks at a time! This leads to the patient's will being over-ruled and that person being detained without a second opinion.

You can find an article published in The Backbencher about this case here :- Link to Backbencher Article August 2020

Here is a link to my letter before proceedings :- Link to Letter sent to Government Legal Department

The change actually comes from part of the 'Coronavirus Act 2020'. The UK Government decided that it would be okay to lock up people with mental health conditions instead of finding ways to help. Here is a link to the Government's response to my letter :- Link to Government response about Mental Health Act

The Government have until 11 August to reply to my Grounds for Application which have been sent to the High Court. You can find a copy of my Grounds for Application here :- Link to Grounds sent to the Court

I have supporting, signed, statements from the public [including from a care worker] and more on the way. Tahir Ali MP (Birmingham) has expressed his interest in the case and will be following it carefully.

The public of England does not consent to 1 person having authority to detain another person.

My name is Lijeh. I'm from Birmingham. I do not have a Solicitor, but I have spoken to a Solicitor and to Queen's Counsel. I am representing myself in the High Court, so I'm raising the money I need to pay for resources to handle this case myself.

My intention is to 1) Get the change removed. 2) Help get solid laws that protect people with mental health conditions. 3) Improve Mental Health Services!Thank you
