I almost lost my life because I missed the early warning signs.

My name is Debra Wold, and I took my Pain and turned it into Purpose.

It started so quietly.

Persistent bloating that I blamed on something I ate. Feeling full after just a few bites of food. Pelvic pressure and back pain I dismissed as stress... or just "getting older."

Every time a warning sign appeared, I brushed it off.

I told myself it was nothing.

The silent killer was already inside my body.

What followed was a fight I never expected - sleepless nights before surgery, a 20+ cm tumor in torsion-turning, and a family shattered by fear from a diagnosis we never saw coming.

I survived.

Too many women do not - because the early warning signs of ovarian cancer are overlooked, minimized, or simply unknown.

That's why I am writing to you today.

I started Teal Ribbon Ovarian Cancer - TEAL R.O.C. - to beat the drum to save women's lives.

Our mission is simple and urgent:

T- B.E.A.T. - Beating the Drum to Save Women's Lives

We teach every woman to: See something, Say something, Write it down.

B - BLOATING that is persistent and doesn't go away

E - EATING habits changed - feeling full after only a few bites

A - ABDOMINAL and BACK PAIN that is new and persistent

T - TOILET habits changed - going more urgently or more often

If someone had taught me B.E.A.T. earlier, my story might have been very different.

Teal Ribbon Ovarian Cancer (TEAL R.O.C.) works tirelessly through advocacy, education, and direct support to make sure every woman has access to the resources needed for early detection and comprehensive care.

We fight so no other woman has to learn the hard way... when it is almost too late.
