Help flip the House and Senate for the November midterms!
My goal is to handwrite and mail 1000 postcards before the 2026 midterms, encouraging and instructing voters how to register with suggestions of candidates to support in flippable races.
It's doable, I volunteered through Activate America and Field Team6 for the 2024 election cycle and used their scripts to write over 1400 postcards. Finger callus to prove it!
But postcarding isn't for everyone. It requires some precise and tiny handwriting skills, plus time and patience. I can still provide that part, so am looking to team up with others who would like to help with the cost of supplies.
At $0.61 each, the stamps alone will cost $610. Then there's cards and markers!
That's why I'm seeking $830 to cover these costs.
Seems like a lot just for postcards, so why the effort?
1) We need to overwhelm the polls to buffer for the voter suppression and post-election subversion tactics this corrupt administration is going to try.
2) Midterms typically are ignored by many voters, but democracy can't afford that anymore. And getting people ready to cast ballots could be more challenging this cycle, now that there's an aggressive effort to purge polls.
3) People need to register, check if they're still current, learn how/where to cast their vote - by mail, locations of drop boxes and polling centers. This info changes, and these postcard scripts revise to keep recipients up to date in their specific locations.
4) Voters then need to know who's running in their district, and how to access info on their candidates. Local and state positions will also be up for election, and judges are now more relevant than ever on the ballots, yet generally unknown to voters.
Postcarding is just one tool in the toolbox, but it's a personalized way to provide folks with the info, logistics, and encourgement to cast their ballots. Handwritten notes with colorful designs lend themselves to getting a magnet on the fridge, rather than all the digital spamming that gets ignored and deleted.
While it's great to see so many protesting and social posting, we only move the needle by casting votes. Giving folks the specific support they need to do this, is why I'm willing to spend many hours writing!
