Dear friends and family,

I'm creating this GoFundMe to support my family, and in particular, the two children, my youngest nephews. I'd like to be able to expand the resources we have as a family to provide the support and care they need. This is something I've been considering doing since my sister transitioned over two years ago; however, for various self-limiting reasons (family pride, privacy, shame, and deep conditioning to not ask for help), I hadn't done it. Raising these beautiful boys requires us all coming together in whatever ways we can to do so as best we can, and I'd like this to be an invitation to extend that village and include others who care and love us to support this effort. It would be nice to have more resources for tutoring, educational support and enrichment programs for them (we all know the negative impacts of school systems, i.e. "schooling", on Black boys), as well as to support their basic needs and desires. I'd also like to begin a fund that can help expand their post-secondary opportunities (college classes, car, etc.). If you'd like to contribute to supporting our family in this way in lieu of a birthday gift for me, I would be so grateful.
