Drunk Driver ruined Sarah and Ben's home and retirement

Hello, my name is Sarah and my husband, Ben and I are fundraising for replacement of our mobile home. On January 21th, 2024, a drunk driver crashed into our home causing extensive damage. Our home owners insurance company hired an engineer to evaluate the damage. A temporary repair was made to allow us to stay in our home until warmer weather, when the final repairs could be made.

Recently, we were informed that there was major issues with hidden damage that was present prior to the accident, and we would need to perform repairs to our mobile home totaling $80,000 prior to the insurance company repairing the damage caused by the drunk driver of $38,000. The cost of the repairs totals $118,000 while a new mobile home of smaller size will cost approximately $125,000. We are not financially able to come up with that large amount of money at all.

We have lived in our mobile home since the late 1960's. Our children were born and raised here and we have created many memories for more than fifty years. We are both retired and struggling to find a solution that will allow us to maintain our memories and cherished home, or fund a new, replacement mobile home to not only remember the memories, but to make new ones as well.

I understand that many people are struggling to get by on a daily basis with inflation sucking more and more of our hard earned income. We are all experiencing the effects of inflation in an ever changing world. We have set ourselves up for a modest living in our retirement years. However, after being told we must pay tens of thousands of dollars prior to the insurance company repairing the damage by the drunk driver, we find ourselves wondering how we will be able to continue living here.

Unfortunately for us, we may lose our cherished home and all of the memories that were made here if we are unable to find a solution to our dilemma. Any help that you are able to make will help put us one step closer to keeping those memories and allowing us to live in the house that Love built.
