This July, we (Kristin, Mary, and Monika) will be joining a team of dedicated healthcare professionals on a medical mission trip with Hearts in Motion (HIM). HIM is a non-profit organization that provides quality medical care and assists in developing social programs to improve the health, education, and welfare of individuals in underserved communities throughout the U.S., Central, and South America.
During this mission, our multi-disciplinary team—comprising of gynecologists, pediatricians, midwives, labor and delivery nurses (that's us!), as well as physical and occupational therapists—will provide vital care to pregnant and postpartum mothers, as well as their newborns. Our focus will be to provide both physical and emotional support to these families. In addition to direct patient care, we will also offer educational sessions for local providers to ensure the sustainability of quality healthcare for mothers and babies in the future.
This mission is incredibly meaningful, not only because of the medical services we will provide, but also because of the long-term impact we hope to create. By empowering local healthcare providers with additional knowledge and resources, we aim to help develop a self-sustaining culture of care that will continue to benefit the community long after our team departs.
As volunteers with Hearts in Motion, we are seeking financial support to cover the costs associated with this mission. The total cost for our participation is $5,000, which will cover travel expenses, medical supplies, and other mission-related costs. Any contribution you can make—whether small or large—will have a direct impact on the success of this mission and the lives of the people we serve.
Thank you so much for your support!
Kristin Bielman, Mary Hieb, and Monika Rueb
