Hi! My name is Lucero Vargas. I’m a visual artist, cultural worker, and mother — born and raised in Ecatepec, México. I carry with me the stories, struggles, and resilience of the people who raised me and the streets that shaped me. I know firsthand what it means to grow up there — and how a small act of joy, creativity, or kindness can leave a deep and lasting impact. This campaign is my way of giving back to the children who walk the same streets I once did. That’s why every year for the past four years for Dia De Muertos, I’ve dedicated myself to organize a community campaign to bring joy and creativity to at least 200 children in Ecatepec.

Why Ecatepec?

Ecatepec is a vibrant community with rich cultural roots but also faces systemic challenges including violence, poverty, and limited access to safe, creative spaces for children. Many kids in these communities grow up without the simple joys that many take for granted — especially during seasonal celebrations like DDM.

We are seeking to raise $5,000 USD and collect art supplies and new or gently used toys for at least 200 children by October 30, 2025.

• School-safe art kits (crayons, markers, paper, paint, glue)

• Educational toys and games

• Halloween costumes and candy

• Shipping and local distribution logistics
