Kwame Walking to Revolutionize Health in Black Communities

Donation protected
The Mission: Expand bEHR Health nationwide, giving Black communities the tools to take control of their health.

The Challenge: bEHR Health CEO Kwame Terra is attempting to break the world record for the most walking steps completed in 30 days, currently held by Sunil Kumar of India with 1,971,882 steps. Kwame is going for 2 million steps in 30 days—a groundbreaking feat to raise awareness and funding for Black health solutions.

We’re asking YOU to donate just $5 or more to help revolutionize healthcare for Black communities!

Why This Matters

60% of Black Americans have low health literacy, meaning most of us don’t know how to assess or improve our health. Most of us don’t know our true health status, making it harder to prevent disease and advocate for care.

But beyond just health literacy, the health disparities facing Black communities are staggering:

Life expectancy for Black Americans is 4 years lower than for white Americans.

Black women are 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for Black Americans, contributing to a 20% higher mortality rate than other racial groups.

Diabetes impacts 13.4% of Black adults, compared to 7.4% of white adults.

Hypertension rates are 40% higher among Black adults compared to white adults.

That’s why we created bEHR Health.

What is bEHR Health?

bEHR Health is a three-phase strategy to transform Black health through technology, data, and infrastructure.

Phase 1: National Expansion of the bEHR Health App

bEHR Health starts with awareness and access. Our app is designed to clearly communicate health status to Black communities at both the individual and collective levels through the bEHR Health Score—a number between 0 and 1000 representing your overall health. Based on your score, we will connect you with the care you need through bEHRconnect, a directory platform of culturally competent healthcare providers and resources.

✔️ Track your health with a simple, science-backed score
✔️ See real-time health trends to highlight urgent community needs
✔️ Find culturally competent care through bEHRconnect, linking you to trusted Black healthcare providers

Your bEHR Health Score isn’t static—it changes in real-time based on changes in you lifestyle, health, and family medical history data.

Phase 2: Data-Driven Community Health Solutions

Once individuals and communities understand their health, we move to solutions.

Health Score Report: Powered by user insights from the bEHR Health app, this report provides real-time data on the health status of Black communities.

We use this data to:

✔️ Identify key health challenges affecting Black communities ⚠️
✔️ Design targeted health programs tailored to specific needs ‍♀️
✔️ Measure the impact of interventions in real time ⏳
✔️ Refine and scale existing solutions to improve long-term health outcomes

Phase 3: Building a Black Healthcare Infrastructure

Awareness and intervention must lead to systemic change. Phase 3 focuses on creating the health-promoting environments Black communities deserve.

✔️ A nationwide network of clinics, fitness studios, and wellness centers ‍♂️
✔️ Community health hubs that provide culturally relevant care
✔️ A sustainable, Black-led healthcare system that puts us first ✊
