Hey guys, it's Kristen. As many of you know, it has been a really tough few months for my dad. What started back in December as what we thought was just a small cold, turned out to be much more. After getting turned away from two hospitals and sent home with migraine relief, my dad was feeling no relief. Discouraged, because the two hospitals made him feel as if nothing was wrong. After a couple of weeks of agony, my mom demanded she pick him up so she could keep a closer eye. That night is when she brought him into Ocean Medical Center. It took almost a week for them to discover that it was shingles attacking his body. At this point, it was very severely progressed, the rash taking over his whole left side of his head, including his eye. Before we even got a grasp on his diagnosis, it had completely taken over, and my dad had to be placed on a ventilator. Then he was air transported to Hackensack in North Jersey for ICU care. Doctors did not give me much hope of him pulling through. I am SO blessed to say my dad is with us and still recovering. He has a long road ahead. Over a month in the hospital and now rehab for the foreseeable future. We hope to fight for him to regain some sort of vision back in the left eye, and he is doing his absolute best to come back as strong as he can. With all this being said, we know how hard American health care can be and what insurance is willing to and not willing to cover.

Despite all the hard work my dad is putting forth, there are some changes needing to be made, like caretaking, needing to get to his appointments, and changes in his living situation. Along with that, a list of surgeries to help get him back on track.

He has always been the life of the party, I pray to see him back to himself like he was in the photo above.

I wanted to share his story because as humble as my father is in not wanting help, I want to help him as much as I can. Please share, and really, truly, anything helps with future changes and medical bills.
