Update: April 17th
Thank you to everyone who has prayed Kari through these past seven months. She is home and is doing well. She is still waiting on scans to see what is going on with the part of the tumor that was left. My parents leave next week to be with her for a few weeks. Thank you all for your donations as we continue to try to be there for her. We are forever grateful for you all!

***Urgent Update***
Dearest Friends and Family,

Today I write to you all from Munich with a heavy heart. I write to you with an anxious mind and my heart pounding. I sadly have bad news that will leave most of you in shock, in tears and hurting for me and my wonderful family!

Over the past few years, I’ve had many health issues that have made life harder, but I’ve pressed on because that’s what we do, right?! But the health issues just kept piling up and its toll on my body has come to a point that led to a CT scan…which led to an MRI on my brain.

A week ago I got the shocking news that I have a very large brain tumor (about the size of my fist). The good news is, that it is benign/non-cancerous. This brain tumor is in a difficult place to remove but that is what has to happen. So I will have to undergo two major brain surgeries, to remove it and then follow up with radiation therapy and rehabilitation.

Needless to say, I am terrified. I am utterly terrified. This past week has been so hard, so scary and so overwhelming. BUT, God is overwhelmingly very present. I feel the presence of God. I see God in nature and the rush of the river beside my apartment. I hear God in the wind and as we talk. I experience God in the people around me, in my beloved friends that are holding me up. I‘ve had songs in my heart and I’ve been singing of the kindness and goodness of God. And truth be told I haven’t felt God this strongly in a very long time.

So as I wait on the dates for brain surgery (which I believe will be around mid October) and as I wait on all that leads up to surgery, I covet your prayers, your love and your encouragement. I also ask for prayers especially for my dear family, that seem so far away. ❤️

The good news is, I’m in Germany. They have an amazing healthcare system. They are super advanced in the medical field and I will not have to worry about finances concerning healthcare costs, or missing work, because it is covered by insurance! I mean how comforting is that?!

I am also surrounded by some amazing people here in Germany that are walking with me daily through each trial. With that said, I am still in need of my family. As you know, flight costs, travel, and missing work is hard and that can take a toll financially. So, many people are asking if there is anything tangible that they can do, and all I want is family. Some will come before the surgery, some will come after, during recovery. So if you are able, please donate whatever you feel you can or want to, when we get that up and running. If you can’t, then don’t put that strain on yourself. Prayers are better than money!

With that said, I have hope! I have peace! I have a fervent prayer that I will come out on the other side of this, healthy, strong and ready to live life to the fullest. So pray with me…Pray for a calm spirit. Pray for strength. Pray for good sleep. Pray for my anxiety to cease. Pray for my neurological surgeons. Pray for my friends and family. Pray for healing!!! Whatever you do, pray. If you don’t pray, just try it on my behalf if you‘d like!

Myself and my family will keep you all posted. If you’re near any of my family members, give them love, support and encouragement…because this is hard and sometimes we’re just not ok…but we will be!

With Love from Munich,
Kari Jones

PS-I’m still weird and ridiculous. The tumor has been named Tootles.
So you can refer to it as Tootles with me. God Bless you all and let’s all fight and pray to get rid of Tootles!! ❤️

***All donated money will be used for Kari‘s immediate family to be able to be with her over the course of her operation, and recovery (however long that may be). This will cover things such as: flights, meals, accommodations when needed, unpaid days off work, travel costs in Munich, etc…in order to take away financial stress during this time.
