I am Julie and many of you know my heart and soul belongs to Jamaica always….and especially now! Please help me in helping my friends in Jamaica! My goal is to help some of my favorite hard working people of Jamaica whom I have known and relied on as drivers, tour guides, excursion operators and friends too build back what they have devastatingly lost. Their homes, their belonging, their businesses. I will be personally helping a handful of wonderful hardworking people that I have known for years.

I will be distributing these funds personally and directly to real people, rather than through a foundation that we don’t know how and if they will be distributed.

Most Jamaicans will tell you right now that they “ Have Life” and for that they are most thankful. They are very humble, strong, thankful and resilient people.

But let’s together help them build back some of what they have lost. Let’s help them feed their families, build back their homes and repair their businesses so that they can work, thrive and live again.

I was at first going to start this Go Fund Me specifically for our closest friend in Jamaica. And of course I wanted his permission to write about him and his family. And his humble response was ….

“How about doing it as helping others in general not just myself.”

Below is a statement he wrote and sent to me…

Jamaica has been devastated by Hurricane Melissa. Our island is facing severe damage - homes have been destroyed, communities displaced, and many families are struggling to get basic necessities like food, water, and shelter.

As Jamaicans, we are strong, resilient, and hardworking people. I know that together, we will rise and rebuild stronger than before. But right now, we need your help to make that recovery possible.

This GoFundMe has been created to raise funds to purchase essential supplies and provide immediate relief to those affected by the hurricane. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward helping families in need.

And…the resorts and tourist areas will be back to their full beauty in no time! So also consider…once things are back in order, VISIT JAMAICA!!!

I don’t care if you book your trip with me or not…Just make a point to plan to visit this island and get to know it’s beautiful people! They rely so heavily on tourism that if people choose to stay away for too long, this will be a harder hit than the hurricane!

But for now, I am asking for you to help during this crucial time so that they can eat, rebuild and rise up!
