Nine-year-old Evangeline (Eva) arrived at the hospital on Friday, April 11, 2025. Evangeline was taken to the emergency room at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital with complications on her left side with her leg, arm, and eye. Before the night was over, she was diagnosed with a brain mass around her brain stem. Surgery was done to remove the mass, and a week later she suffered a stroke. She is now recovering as much as possible for what her brain is able to do as it heals.
On May 7, 2025, she was moved from ICU to a regular room to help transition her to a rehabilitation center in Atlanta, GA. She stayed in Atlanta for a little over a month. Eva has an older sister who is special-needs and a younger sister who is in Kindergarten.
The rehabilitation center in Atlanta was able to help her recover some motor skills she lost after the surgery and stroke. Eva is home and currently in outpatient rehabilitation four days a week. She is not yet able to walk unassisted, but she’s gaining strength every day.
The bills from her hospital stays have been rolling in! If you feel it in your heart to help, they would be so grateful.
