Hi, I’m Duane Sisemore’s daughter, Karesse. On Monday, 8/4/2025, I took my father into the ER for what we assumed were kidney stones. When we arrived, he had labs and a CT scan done. We were never prepared for what happened next. The CT showed a mass on his adrenal gland and a dark, “concerning” spot in his colon with some more masses surrounding his colon. He was admitted to the hospital for further testing. Upon an endoscopy and colonoscopy, they were about to take some biopsies and then could not move the scope any further. An MRI was completed and showed there was a mass almost fully obstructing his colon and it needed to be removed ASAP.
Wednesday morning, we received the biopsy results. This is when they told us that he has stage 4 colon cancer, but the more concerning matter was getting the mass in his colon removed. He went into surgery later that afternoon on Wednesday. He was finally discharged from the hospital Sunday, only to return to urgent care on Monday for a blood clot in his arm from where his IV was placed all week. He is now on blood thinners with a higher risk due to just having extensive surgery on Wednesday. As you can imagine, it has been a very tough week.
Now medical bills are rolling in. My father will be out of work until he fully heals from the surgery and then on and off for oncology appointments. As we know, stage 4 colon cancer is incurable, and we will have a long journey ahead of us so he has an amazing quality of the life he has left. With him being off work and me only being able to work part-time through all of this, the medical bills will continue and get tougher as we go on.
Please do not feel obligated to donate anything. Anything helps, even if it’s just prayers and love! <3
