Hi, my name is Colleen Smith (58) and I was diagnosed with a stage four brain tumor called Glioblastoma on 01/31/24. I am a wife, a mother of 2, a friend of many and I have now become a Warrior in the fight of my life.
Locally, I have completed rigorous treatment plans enduring biopsy, craniotomy, chemotherapy and radiation however, despite all the efforts of many physicians I’ve had little to no luck and my condition has now worsen.
In an effort to continue my fight, I’ve been receiving treatment in Houston, Texas which is not covered by my insurance. This treatment is experimental and although we’re encouraged from successful early results, the treatments are very expensive and we’ve been forced to pay out of our own pockets for my life saving opportunity.
My husband and I have now made several trips to Houston for my treatments and follow-up care and these trips will continue for the foreseeable future with expenses mounting very quickly.
The struggles I’ve endured this year have been kept pretty quiet however, my latest trip to Texas was last week and while I was gone my street was hit by a rare tornado and my golden retriever Zoey went missing. I am very fortunate to say that my house was not damaged and Zoey was found 2-1/2 days later unharmed making my family whole again. Now after seeing this wonderful community band together to help me find my dog which was a gift from God it opened my eyes up to be able to share my story in hopes that maybe my community can help me again.
My husband and I could have never imagined having to ask anyone for help however, our need for this help has never been greater and we would greatly appreciate any donations you can give to help me continue my journey back to health.
We are extremely grateful for everything that is being done on my behalf and please know that everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
