John’s Toolshed Destroyed in Storm
Donation protected
My dad took an early retirement a while back after being quite poorly, and he now spends his days tinkering in his wee shed in the blustery countryside of southwest Scotland.
He couldn’t splash out on a heavy duty shed for all of his tools, but his little “sweety shop” shed was his pride and joy. Not only has he lost the shed itself, but several tools, plants, storage containers and sentimental objects have been lost or destroyed.
Since moving to Tinwald, my dad has come out of his shell so much and really made an effort to become an integral part of the community. I know he will not want to advocate for himself like this, so I’ll do it for him. John volunteers at the cruck cottage - a local historical landmark. He hosts fairy days for the local children to engage with the cottage, as well as raise funds, and all of the little figurines and ornaments he made with his own two hands were stored in this shed. Most of his charity work happens in his shed.
His lifelong collection of tools, from decades as a motorbike mechanic has also taken a severe hit. My heart was breaking watching him scramble to salvage anything he could before the rain got to it - mum and myself helped where we were able but ultimately it was too dangerous with the 108mph gusts threatening to lob down the trees/send another roof flying our way. Dad did sustain some minor injuries in his determined battle to lug his precious belongings to safety.
Any amount of assistance to hedge my dad’s loss in this storm would be so greatly appreciated, he really does deserve the help.
