Help My Brother John Fight Cancer and Avoid Homelessness
Hi, my name is Bob Donati, and I’m reaching out to ask for your help for my younger brother, John Donati, age 57.
Over a year ago, John was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. Through multiple surgeries—including the loss of his colon—and rounds of intensive chemotherapy, he has fought with incredible courage. Sadly, the cancer is still progressing. And the toll hasn’t just been on his body. It’s taken everything.
John’s Story
John has always been a strong, caring, and fiercely independent soul. He’s the youngest of four siblings and has endured more than his share of hardship. This past year, cancer has torn through every part of his life.
Due to frequent hospitalizations and life-altering complications—including a colostomy and a permanent IV line (TPN) as his only source of nutrition—John can no longer work. He now depends solely on Social Security and Medicaid, which barely cover his most basic needs, let alone the crushing medical debt he’s accumulated.
During one of his most recent hospital stays, John lost his only affordable apartment. It was already difficult to manage on his own, and with his declining health, it became impossible. He’s now still in the hospital, but is facing homelessness upon discharge. With no local housing options and no state-funded support in New Hampshire, the only options presented by the hospital social worker are a homeless shelter or a halfway house—neither of which can provide the medical care and dignity he urgently needs.
Why I’m Asking for Help
John deserves better. He’s fighting for his life. No one—especially not someone this ill—should be discharged into homelessness without proper care and support.
I’m raising funds to:
Secure a safe, affordable studio apartment close to his hospital and medical providers
Cover basic living expenses (rent, utilities, food)
Provide in-home medical support and colostomy/IV supplies
Address medical debt not covered by Medicaid
Our Goal
We are hoping to raise $10,000 to help John get out of the hospital and into a safe, stable, and dignified environment. Every donation—large or small—gets us one step closer to giving him the support he deserves.
How You Can Help

Reach Out: If you know of any housing support, medical aid, or community resources in New Hampshire, we’d love to hear from you.
John has always lived humbly and never asked for anything. Now, for the first time, he needs help. I believe that even in the darkest moments, kindness and community can light the way forward.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
