Hello,

I am writing to call on community support for Carla, Johnny and their family.

Johnny was recently in an accident and has experienced a complete rupture of his Achilles tendon. This means having surgery, 8 weeks off his feet completely, and a 6 to 9 month recovery before he can return to physical work.

Johnny and Carla are opening up to receiving financial support to help them in this major adjustment of losing Johnny's income. There is a lot of pressure on Carla to be the sole earner as well as carer of Johnny, 2 children and the land they live on.

Due to the nature of the injury and time frame of recovery, Carla does not qualify for a carers payment.

Your contribution will go towards hiring support for childcare, cleaning and perhaps some pre-made quality meals. It will take so much pressure off Carla and allow her to still show up for the birthing families she is supporting over the next 6-9 months.

In the nearly two years I've known Carla, I've witnessed and experienced firsthand her generosity of presence, love and energy in supporting mothers, babies and families to be held and well cared for... both across the pregnancy to postpartum continuum, and more broadly as a way of life which positions mother and family wellbeing as paramount. Carla lives by and educates others on the importance of community care in supporting this.

This go fund me is an opportunity to offer care and support back to Carla and Johnny's family as they navigate this challenging time.
