John and Claire

Hi, my name is Carolyn and I am fund raising to raise money for treatment to help my uncle John.

John and his wife Claire have been helping people throughout their lives and it's time to help back.

John and Claire have two boys, Harry and Michael who both have Autsim.

Claire fell pregnant with Michale during Harry's diagnosis back in 2008, Autism was rarely recognised which proved a real struggle for them, when Michael was 2 he also was suspected of the condition.

With very little help and awareness during this time, John and Claire set up The autistic children's alliance, a charity to reach out to to families with children of autism. The charity involved activities and out reach sessions. John and Claire invested so much time researching so they would have the answers to the questions asked by parents and would help and direct them to the best organisations, schools etc. The Charity also held an annual Christmas event for the parents and children which consisted of parties, santa visits, raffels, games and tombola. John and Claire would spend hours and hours of their time for the Charity.

Claire had to give up her job as a careea advisor to provide full time care for Harry and Michael.

John has always had a passion for helping people, particularly children. He started his career as a DJ in a local youth club, and would organise events for the children, day trips and holidays. He then went on to university where he gained a degree in social work. His line of work consisted of providing advice and helping young people who would be struggling with their own career paths and helping them with employment. He then went on to work alongside Merseyside police to liase with teenagers in understanding their crimes and helping them with their education and guiding them to a different, better path in life.

The latter part of John's career was helping families imported to the UK from war torn countries gain access to schools for their children, parts of this role proved to be very upsetting for John and he would often provide school uniforms to these families out of his own pocket.

The list is endless for John and Claire in the amount of people they have helped over the years including the elderly, who may have struggled in gaining access to certain benefits due to technology. John has appointed families to members of government and helped them get the help they have needed and been entitled to, who would otherwise not have known about it.

He has been doing all of this whilst providing the upmost care to his sons who absolutely idolise him.

In September 2023, John was diagnosed with prostate cancer, this came as a massive blow to all of the family, during the past 12 months the family have struggled to come to terms with this and have been provided very little support from DWP and the NHS. John has had to give up work aswel as the charity.

After his 2nd round of radio therapy we recieved the news that John's Cancer has spread to his lungs and stomach. He will be starting his first round of chemotherapy soon. They have also been offered private treatment at a cost of £10'000.

John and Claire have agreed not to share this news with their sons as it will cause an amount of stress and anxiety to them both and would be to painfull for them to come to terms with, therfore John has agreed to undergo a treatment which will hopefully prevent him from loosing his hair. The treatment is said to be that of brain freeze, which lasts a gruling 40 minutes per session.

Claire is now giving round the clock care to John and her 2 boys.

The funds raised will provide the treatment available for John to live a comfortable life with his loving wife and children.

John is a brother to me, and has also guided myself to a better life, he is the most amazing person and everyone he meets is drawn to him and his inspiring chats. He is a very funny man too who makes everyone laugh. Children absolutely adore him. He is the most kindest, genuine, caring, loving person in my life and he absolutely dosnt deserve all that he has been through. His wife, Claire is one of the most strongest women I know, she has the biggest heart and I am so grateful to her. She has been through so much and still has so much love for everyone.

Harry and Michale are such loving boys, I always say they are blessed with the most supporting, loving parents.

Over the coming weeks and months, myself, family and friends will be participating in different events including walks and a charity night (date to be announced) to help raise the funds needed to help John, Claire Harry and Michael.
