This summer, Joekaaru Suvekodu faced an important but necessary expense, finally giving in to the march of time and purchasing a new tractor! Whether you're 7 or 70, you've seen our blue 1970 Ford workhorse put in it's time decade after decade - but the need finally arose to get a more capable, reliable machine to help get the work done.
Read about the traktor's importance at the article Natalie Jenkins wrote for 'Eesti Elu' at https://eestielu.ca/et/it-takes-a-village-and-a-tractor/
The tractor is an essential part of keeping laager running safely and smoothly. It helps us maintain the cabins and fields, move building materials, prepare volleyball courts and the sports fields, and handle the behind-the-scenes work that makes laager such a magical place for the kids.
The new tractor has a front scoop, back hoe, and can take attachments for tasks such as brush clearing that will help make talgu tood possible. Without it, we couldn't properly take care of the work required to care for the lang and facilities.
The cost of the tractor was $40,000, a significant investment for our camp community.
We are reaching out to our extended laagri pere to help ease the burden of this purchase. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to put toward the cost of the tractor. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference and directly support the place where so many children build lifelong memories, friendships, and connections to Eestlus.
As a thank you, there will be tractor rides during talgud next spring - in fact, we may even teach YOU how to drive it!
Thank you for helping us keep Joekaaru strong for this generation and the next.

Suur aitah koikidele kes saavad aitada!
