In April of 2021 I will be going on a Raleigh International Expedition to Costa Rica!
What is Raleigh International
Raleigh International is a youth-driven sustainable development charity who inspire communities and young people around the world to create lasting change. It’s programmes focus on providing access to safe water and sanitation, protecting vulnerable environments, creating sustainable livelihoods, building resilient communities, and ensuring young people are connect, valued partners in development.
My trip
For Costa Rica in particular, Raleigh has two aims, firstly to improve access to education for Indigenous populations, and secondly to increase environmental awareness with local communities and develop National Parks as a part of Raleigh's environmental movement.
Why donate?
As I will be volunteering for the charity, I am required to meet a donation goal of 3600 euros. This money will provide me with food and shelter during my stay, but the majority will be funding the charity and it's projects (I will be paying for my own flight). As a motivation for you to sponsor my trip and donate to the charity, I have challenged myself to see how far I can travel (hypothetically) to San José from Amsterdam through physical activity. This notates running, cycling, rowing, walking, and other similar exercises. I will be recording all of the distances and adding them together to see how close I can get.
In the unlikely event that the trip is cancelled due to Covid-19, or another emergency to the same effect, my expedition will be moved to a later date. All donation's will still go towards Raleigh and fund my postponed trip.
