Joe Grisson for D129 School Board

Donation protected

I would like to thank those who signed the petition I appreciate your support. For those of you who may not know, I have successfully petitioned to put my name on the ballot for the West Aurora school board in the April 4, 2017 election cycle.  I am now preparing to campaign for the election, and I need your financial support as well as your moral support.  Below is a brief description of why I believe I am qualified, as well as some of the things I have done within the community.

Why vote for me?

I have served the city of Aurora as an advocate for our communities, especially our children, in various capacities for the past decade and counting.  Now, I am seeking elected office, a seat on the West Aurora District 129 Board of Education, the community in which I now reside.  A natural collaborator, I am both willing and able to partner with others for the betterment of our community.

I believe in providing a solid educational foundation and preparing our students for college, the workplace, and an overall productive and satisfying life. With a true passion for community success, I have a proven track record of being an all inclusive leader and team player.  With a true passion for community success, I have served in several programs, including, but not limited to:

·      African American Heritage Advisory Board – Vice President

·      Aurora Housing Authority – recently appointed Commissioner

·      The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) for Downtown Aurora – Community Input

·      Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office Deferred Prosecution – Volunteer

·      Martin Luther King Jr. Committee – Co-Chairman

·      Neighborhood Redevelopment – Community Advisor

·      Sow A Seed Youth Organization – Vice Chairman

·      Scullen Middle School Leadership Program

·      Still Middle School Mentoring Program

·      East Aurora Weed and Seed Initiative of Kane County- Community Contributor
