Joanne Beverley Walker Fund
Donation protected
Dear friends,
I have decided to start an annual fund for my grandmother, Joanne Beverley Walker. This will be the first year of the fund and I want to share my grandmother's story with you all!
Joanne, affectionately referred to as "Ms. Joanne" by people in her community and by "mama" by her children and grandchildren, is from the Trench Town neighborhood in Kingston Jamaica, the birthplace of Reggae music. She has 7 children, 25 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Joanne has been active within the community, volunteering her time to local politics to give a voice to the unheard within her community, all while raising her children and grandchildren.
She is responsible for providing food and shelter to people with need in her community and she has had a tremendous impact on many lives, including my own.
Growing up, my grandmother took care of me while my mother had to work. She taught me the values of kindness and sharing at a young age. She has always been the matriarch of the family, helping everyone in need.
Now it's my time to help her. Ms. Joanne is 75 years old. She has spent her whole life helping people, while asking for nothing in return. Given her age, I am asking for support to make sure that she is funded for doctor visits, medication, food and well-being. Please help recognize Ms. Joanne's contribution to her community and family by donating to this fund.
