My name is Joana and I've created this Go Fund Me project to raise money to do education-related volunteer work in Villa Allende, Argentina. 

I was a New York City public school teacher for the past three years.  I was unfairly asked to leave my district at the end of last year (despite an effective rating, the love of my students, and support of my colleagues).  I was unable to find a job in another district, so I was forced to take this year off from teaching.  I plan to apply again for the 2015-2016 school year, but until then, I would like to use my time off to make a difference doing some volunteer work in the field of education. 

I recently found out about International Volunteer HQ, an organization which helps place volunteers in different communities in need around the world.  With the help of this project, I hope to raise enough money to pay for the program fee and help with the cost of my flight to Argentina.
