Help George Find Safety, Stability, and a Place to Call Home Again
George Mehm has been a close Cornell family friend for over 50 years — a true constant in our lives and in the community of Park Ridge. A lifelong resident and a dedicated CPA, George has always been the first to step up when someone needed help. As a senior citizen and longtime community volunteer, he has served on countless committees, working tirelessly to improve our town and support its residents. His kindness, integrity, and selflessness have touched more people than he’ll ever know.
Today, George needs our help.
Recently, a sudden and devastating turn of events caused George to lose his lifelong savings and the home he worked so hard for. With no family to lean on and declining health, he has found himself with nowhere to go. For the past several weeks, he has been living out of his car and, at times, sleeping in his office just to stay warm. He has now been told by the police that he must vacate the premises by November 24, giving him almost no time to find safe shelter.
With winter approaching and the holidays near, the thought of George spending nights on the street is heartbreaking. He is actively searching for stable work, but he currently has no funds to rent even a small room to get back on his feet.
We are starting this GoFundMe in hopes of giving George the cushion he desperately needs — a roof over his head, a warm place to sleep, and the stability to rebuild his life. Every dollar will go directly toward securing temporary housing, basic necessities, and helping him regain solid footing as he works toward finding employment.
George has spent decades giving to others. Now it’s our chance to give back to him.
