Vision For Tomorrow

Vision For Tomorrow is a charity focused in providing free eye exams as well as reading and prescription eyeglasses for people living in underprivileged areas in Peru.

A major problem in my country, Peru, is extreme poverty, resulting in the lack of quality education among other things.

As a high school student myself I wanted to somehow help students get better education but didn't know how until I finally realized that many students cannot read or write or study very well if they have vision problems and cannot afford to buy a pair of glasses. Later I thought that not only poor children might need glasses but also adults that need to work but cannot see very well because they cant afford to have their vision checked and buy glasses.

That is when I contacted local optometrists in Lima that were willing to donate eyeglasses if they had too much inventory or sell them at a discounted price for reading glasses. As for prescription glasses, I contacted manufacturers of the eyeglasses' frames and were bought for a discounted price, then, they were assembled at low cost with the prescripted lenses.

On the other hand, I also contacted different charities and institutions so that I could offer them glasses to people that may need them.

Last December 1st. 2023 I was very happy because finally after organizing every logistic and financial aspect of the first donation I was able to travel to Puno and deliver the glasses in person. We donated prescription eyeglasses for both near and far vision to 26 persons including children from 70001 School in Huajsapata and the "Colegio Glorioso Nacional San Carlos" as well as for one teacher and one elderly person.

Being able to see the expression on the faces of these children when putting on their own pair of glasses for the first time and see things well for the first time has given me tremendous satisfaction and makes me only want to help more people. I want to be able to help them see, read, study, get educated and have a better future, a better tomorrow!

The funds raised will be used for the eye exams, eyeglasses acquisitions, logistics and travel costs, and for the community outreach.
