Help Jason and Kayla bring a baby home

Well... this is it.  After nearly a decade of keeping to ourselves and trying to begin a family we have chosen to put our privacy aside and ask for the help of others to begin this journey commonly referred to as "parenting".  Kayla and I have been waiting for children and remaining faithful that God would provide as He promises.  Although our faith has wavered over the years, our attitude remained fairly cavalier as our thoughts mirrored many of the common phrases that were offered up in encouragement:

"Whatever God wants will happen..."

"All in His timing..."

"If you two have kids then great and if not.. it wasn't meant to be..."

Recently our mentality has shifted to thinking that God DOES and WILL provide but not always in the way we imagined.  Maybe we are living in an era we can have a child by way of science and basic chemistry.  Enter POMA Fertility and "In Vitro Fertilization" or "IVF".  We met with the team at POMA in December of 2017 and left heavy-hearted after hearing the price tag of nearly $30,000.  Throughout 2018 we saved up a few thousand dollars and kept timing ovulation cycles but still didn't conceive.  We again felt despair and tried to remove the thought of children from our minds.

After further discussion we made another appointment with POMA for January 18th, 2019 and the meeting was very informative.  The staff answered all the questions in detail and patiently explained each of their roles.  While still expecting a sticker-shock, we were dismayed to hear the prices increased by $4000 as of January 1st.  We also discovered that the “pay-as-you-go” was not what we were thinking it meant.  We interpreted that to mean we could pay in installments (using the money we saved as a down payment) but their definition meant pay “per cycle” and begins at $20,000.  We've decided to take out loans and as Nike would say, "just do it!"

We are nervously excited to begin this adventure and appreciate your prayers, words of encouragement, and support. Now that we understand that POMA expects nearly $25,000 for the “Take The Baby Home” program (plus nearly $10,000 for drugs, testing, and misc fees) by Mid-February our next step is to pursue loans and start this GoFundMe.

It's taken nearly a week to draft this campaign as Kayla and I discussed alternatives and wrestled with the thought of whether or not pursuing IVF meant giving up on God's promise.  Ultimately we decided to continue and we begin testing on January 29th with the goal of implanting at the end of March.  Updates to this page and our newly-created Facebook page will be made as often as practical. :)

As we type this up, Kayla reminisces about early memories and states, "I've dreamt of being a mom since I was a kid, carrying around baby dolls and pretending they were real.   When my sister was in health class and brought home a baby doll full of flour, I adopted her as my own.  She was wrapped in plastic because she leaked flour everywhere.  I would dress her, feed her, and take her to the store and church.  I would even seat-belt her into the car.  I had her for years!"

Although /not/ having children has enabled us to travel the world and enjoy each other's company, we are ready to put down roots and welcome a child (or two!) into our lives.  Anything you are able and willing to contribute is greatly appreciated!

P.S. Kayla and I are attending "Presentation Sunday: A Day of Prayer for Infertile Couples" at Cedar Park Church on Sunday, January 27th.  Please pray for a miracle as the last month that Kayla will remain able to naturally conceive will be mid-February due to the birth control and hormone injections scheduled to begin February 28th.
