JJP HOA VOLLEYBALL COURT RENOVATION

In recent years the JJP HOA Sand Volleyball Court has deteriorated to the point where water does not drain from the court creating a pool of water on the court when it rains, much of the sand has eroded from wind and human impact, and the court boundaries have all but disappeared from grass growing into the court. Not to mention the effects the Texas weather and general use has had on the volleyball net that is sagging and pole pads that are deteriorating. We are seeking to renovate the sand volleyball court by upgrading the drainage system, installing court edging, court boundaries, a new heavy duty outdoor volleyball net and pole pads.

The JJP HOA was started in the early 1980’s to help the JJP HOA neighborhood have representation with the City of Richardson (COR) and to come together as neighbors. Over the years the JJP HOA has developed a great relationship with the COR and the RISD. The JJP HOA Park was officially opened in December 2013. The sand volleyball court at the park was originally installed in 2015.

The JJP HOA Park Sand Volleyball Court was dedicated in memory of Patricia Ann “Pat” McChesney. Pat played, coached, served on committees and cheered on players of volleyball for the last 65 years of her life. She and Howard were great fans and long time supporters of J. J. Pearce Volleyball. The 2009 Pearce team was a special source of pride making it to the Texas state volleyball championships. She attended the national volleyball tournament every spring and played in the national and international senior Olympic Games, winning team medals at both venues. In 2000 she was the recipient of the Frier award recognizing her long time contribution to the game of volleyball. She served on the United States Volleyball Board of directors for a number of years and chaired the Olympic, National, and All American Selection Committee. The USA Volleyball - North Texas Region, bestowed the honor of having its Regional championship held in April named in her honor. Pat passed away on Monday March 29, 2010 in her sleep and in the peaceful presence of a granddaughter and two volleyball friends.

The Northwestern Richardson Beautification (NRB), a nonprofit 501c3 organization, created by the JJP HOA as is a standalone entity that services the JJP HOA Park. The JJP HOA Park is recognized by the IRS as a nonprofit organization, is recognized by the COR as a community beneficial pocket park and is recognized by the RISD as a community partner. The park land is owned by the RISD with the agreement with the JJP HOA that the JJP HOA Park can forever use the park if we maintain and improve the park for the community.  Renovating the sand volleyball court is one of the ways we seek to improve the park. As a non-profit, the design and build of the volleyball court is done by a support team of volunteers.  The NRB needs your support to be able to purchase the new equipment and renovate the sand volleyball court. The hopes are to raise the money for the renovation by the end of August 2021 so that in the coming summers it will be in pristine condition to use for the whole community.
