Jill’s Fight Against Melanoma

In September, my sister Jill received news that no one ever wants to hear — she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Metastatic Melanoma after having a mole removed from her leg. What started as a simple procedure quickly of removing the mole, quickly turned into the biopsy showing Stage 3 Metastatic Melanoma.

The original treatment plan was for Jill to undergo two rounds of infusion therapy to help shrink the cancer, which was originally found in her leg where the mole was and had since spread to the lymph node in that same leg. Upon receiving her first round of treatment last week, doctors quickly discovered she was allergic to the infusion medication. Because of this reaction, the treatment plan changed immediately, and her surgery to remove the cancer has been moved up to next Thursday, October 23rd.

She will be out of work for about 8 weeks as she recovers. While she’ll receive short-term disability from her employer, it may not be enough to cover all her day-to-day expenses — and we do not want her to have that stress or worry while she’s healing.

Jill is a single mother to two amazing sons — Isaiah (22) and Peyton (17) — and a proud grandmother to Za’hanni, Isaiah’s beautiful 2-year-old daughter who lights up her world. Jill has always been the one who shows up for everyone else, and now it’s our turn to show up for her.

We are asking anyone who is able to donate to help with expenses such as groceries, utilities, and any medical bills that insurance may not cover. Every little bit helps and means so much to our family.
