Jhaven was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease at Birth, he has struggled with this disease for 20 years. Sickle Cell is a rare disease which affects Predominantly African Americans.
It affects the shape of red blood cells, which carry oxygen to all parts of the body.
Red blood cells are usually round and flexible, so they move easily through blood vessels. In sickle cell anemia, some red blood cells are shaped like sickles or crescent moons.
These sickle cells also become rigid and sticky, which can slow or block blood flow. Sickle Cell affects every organ in your body, causes strokes, and is life threatening.
Jhaven has been suffering silently for 20 years and has decided to undergo A Bone Marrow Transplant to cure his disease.
It was a Blessing that his 16 year old Brother Jyrius was his half match and was the one selected to be his Donor! What a HUGE BLESSING to receive a Bone Marrow Transplant from your Brother!
We Call it the BROTHER’S KEEPERS JOURNEY.
We have created this Go Fund Me to raise money for Jhaven’s living expenses and after treatment care. As he will be hospitalized in Shands Hospital for 30 days and will have to stay within 20 miles of the hospital after Transplant for 5 months, as this will be his very first time living outside of his parents home, which places him in need of everything to live on his own.
Jhaven is the face behind the delicious Platters served at his family owned Restaurant CRAB SHACK 386. He’s the 5th his parents 10 kids, He will be out of work for 8-9 months and will need financial assistance for his expenses. Anything will Help, as this young man has bravely decided to fight towards the cure for his disease!!
