Nailsea Community Group
Donation protected
The Nailsea Community Group was set up in March 2020 in response to the Covid crisis. Since then the group has gone from strength to strength and has evolved from a Covid-response team to a real Community Group that highlights what an amazing community we have in Nailsea.
We have a process in place to make sure all funds donated to the group are spent on current community projects and future legacy projects which are in the best interest of the residents of Nailsea. Any spending is reviewed and voted on before being approved by the Nailsea Community Group Management Team.
We still have over 170 volunteers who have made over 6,000 shopping deliveries and over 4,000 prescription deliveries. We still support over 30 households with our own emergency Foodbank and our referrals to the Trussell Trust at Southfield Road. We still have 104 active Community Buddies supporting residents every week.
Community Larder - this has been established to stop food from going to waste and is supported by local shops, both independently and through the charities FareShare, Neighbourly, and FoodShare. It has an average of 55 visits a day and is open to all residents and has no impact on our Foodbank stock. #feedbelliesnotbins
Community Food Club - this is open to those who receive benefits. Membership costs £1 per household and entitles members to a weekly bag of store-cupboard items worth over £10 for £3.50.
End Holiday Hunger - When schools are not running we are endeavouring to provide food for every child in Nailsea who receives Free School Meals in term time.
Nailsea Active - this initiative continues to inspire people to stay mentally and physically active and to make the most of our amazing local facilities.
We are very proud to live in Nailsea and would not be able to provide the above without every volunteer along with every resident, business, and organisation that has helped us along the way.
Thank you so much for your continued support.
