Jessie & Hazel’s Restful Nights Sleep Fund

Hi, I’m Michelle Romero, a friend of Jessie Buendia and Hazel Miranda who recently and suddenly became new moms to a beautiful baby girl via adoption!

I’m organizing a GoFundMe to help these working mamas get a restful night’s sleep. As you probably know, babies are notorious for depriving new parents of their own basic need for sleep. And both women juggle big day jobs — serving the State of California and advancing social and climate justice across the country.

Will you help me surprise them by funding a night nanny for them?

Here’s their story: Jessie & Hazel are two strong women who’ve overcome a lot and dedicated their lives to help make the world a better place. Together, they have a 4 year old son, Luca, and have longed to grow their family, so they joined an adoption list. What they didn’t know was how long it would take to be selected. Statistically, straight and gay couples are more likely to be chosen over lesbian couples. They were told it could take years! Then suddenly, they received an unexpected (but very exciting) phone call. And within 24 hours they were bringing home a new baby, Luna Naya!

Contributing to Jessie & Hazel’s night nanny fund will go a long way to helping these working mamas maintain some sleep sanity as they navigate this new, exciting and beautiful adventure as working moms. We want them at their best when making big important decisions for the state and the country, right? We want them to know women who do it all deserve support and rest too, right?

The average cost is about $200-250/night, so if I can raise $7,500 with your help, we can fund a night nanny 2-3 times per week for the first 3 crucial months.
