Jess's expedition to Kenya with Camp International

I'm Jess, I am 14 years old and I am setting up this go fund me page as part of an exciting opportunity for me to go on a month long Camp International project in Kenya after my GCSE's in July 2025.

I will have the oportunity to make a difference in Kenya within the community and wildlife whilst expereincing what life is like there. I will work alongside local people and others like me on sustainable projects and help with housing, education and bettering the lives of the community. It is an opportunity to go to a different continent, learn new skills and build lifelong friendships.

As part of this experience Camp International encourage us to raise some of the funds ourselves. To try and do this, I have decided to set myself a challenge over the next 18 months. I am going to attempt to swim the distance across Kenya, which is 637 miles or 1025km. This is about 41006 lengths of a 25m pool (1,025,150 meters in total). Hopefully it can inspire others to get into swimming, follow their dreams and show that anything is possible if you work hard enough.

This won't be easy. It means I need to swim roughly 8 miles every single week for the next 80 weeks starting on January first 2024 as part of this fundraising challenge.

Everyone knows I love to swim, but can I make the distance? That's the challenge.
