Jerome Township Fedex Appeal
Donation protected
On February 21, 2018, the Jerome Township Board of Zoning Appeals voted to approve FedEx’s applications to build a 24 hour, 530,000 square foot truck transportation center on 97+ acres at 8341 Industrial Parkway. This location is near residential areas and will utilize infrastructure that is not adequate to handle this traffic.
This FedEx trucking distribution center will add an estimated 4,566 average daily vehicle trips in and out of this facility every 24 hours. This decision by the Board of Zoning Appeals will subject the residents of Jerome Township and surrounding areas to increased traffic and congestion, more dangerous roadways impacting public safety, noise and light pollution, and a general disruption of the character of the Jerome Township community. Additionally, many residents feel that the process that was followed to get approval for this facility was in error.
While many residents agree that growth of businesses in the area is expected and even welcome, residents expect that the zoning laws that are in place will shield their township from facilities such as this which will have a tremendously negative impact on the community and also the roadways in the area.
An appeal with the Union County Common Pleas Court is being planned to overturn the decision of the Board of Zoning Appeals. There will be a financial burden involved with filing such a case. We are asking residents of the communities who wish to be protected from this trucking facility to come together, donate what you can, and fund the professional legal support our neighbors will need to file this court appeal. Related expenses of this appeal include filing fees, transcript costs and attorney fees.
There is a deadline involved in filing this appeal. Please feel free to donate at any time, but it is urgent to be able to raise funds as soon as possible in order to determine what level of legal services can be funded.
100% of any money that may be left in this fund after the court appeal process will be donated to the Plain City Food Pantry and the Dublin Food Pantry.
