Hello Peckham! My name is Jennifer Blake, and I am delighted to introduce myself as your newest Independent Parliamentary candidate for Peckham Ward in the upcoming general election. I am determined to work towards making our community a better place, giving voice to our needs, and bringing about positive change.
I have gained valuable life skills and exceptional people skills. I have also spent over 15 years setting up and running an award-winning charity called Safe'N'Sound Youth Project, which provided support to young people and communities impacted by gang-related violence, housing, immigration, and education issues. My proven track record of voluntary and community work is evident in the numerous awards and accolades I have received. These include the 2006 McWirther Foundation Award presented to me by the Right Honourable Boris Johnson, the 2007 Peace Award for outstanding service and commitment towards peace in the borough of Southwark, the 2009 Community Safety Award and commendation for bravery, resilience, and civic duty working for the community of Peckham and with Southwark Police during the summer disorder of 2011, and the 2013 Recognition of Contribution for the Home Office Ending Gangs and Youth Violence Program presented by Prime Minister Theresa May. In 2015, I also received a letter of commendation for my community work in tackling youth violence. My experience in tackling issues surrounding community safety has equipped me with extensive life experience, people skills, leadership, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
My passion for community work has earned me numerous awards and recognition through community engagement and various local and national news outlets. As a criminologist and member of the Southwark and Lambeth Metropolitan Police Independent Advisory Group (IAG), I support critical incidents. I strongly believe that we need more women in Parliament, especially those from ethnic backgrounds.
With your support, I am determined to bring new perspectives to an ever-changing world and make a positive impact on our community and beyond. To achieve this, I need your help. Campaigning requires a lot of resources, support, and participation, which requires funding.
Together we can influence change in how our community is represented in the House of Parliament. Please follow my social media accounts to stay updated on my campaign journey and help spread the word. We can create a better future for our community and make a difference in the world.
