I’m raising funds for my best friend, Jennifer Mercado, and her 16-year-old son, Jameson. On August 25, Jennifer's ex-husband and Jameson’s father, Kevin Mercado, unexpectedly died from an asthma attack. Along with this heartbreaking loss, Jennifer is now facing the financial burden of supporting her household without monthly child support or life insurance.

Jameson has worked hard toward his future and was admitted to a competitive public high school that specializes in the arts. He wants to be a filmmaker, and Jennifer moved them two years ago from the Bronx to Manhattan so he would not have to face a lengthy commute to school each day. Even with the financial strain, Jennifer made that move to give her son a fair chance to focus on school and stay connected to the opportunities he has earned.

This fundraiser will help Jennifer keep stable housing in New York City so Jameson can remain close to his friends and near his school. Donations would make a real difference with the expenses Jennifer now has to carry on her own.
