Help Jen Souther Beat Cancer

March 16, 2024
There was nothing to worry about. After all, coughing usually means allergies or maybe a virus? Jen would never have guessed fluid was gathering inside her and when she was unable to catch her breath, she became worried. Wasting no time, Jen checked in to the ER where doctors discovered a pleural effusion. They drained 2 liters of fluid pressing on her lungs from a space inside her chest. This can happen for several reasons it can be caused from pneumonia, complications from heart or kidney disease and as a side effect from cancer. Off went the sample to Pathology. What was going on?
On Tuesday February 20, 2024 Jen was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. A brutal diagnosis followed by more fluid drains as well as consultations with her new best friend, her GYN Oncology doctor. Life just got real. Jen has so much to live for, her beautiful grandson Hayes, her supporting and loving daughter Katie, her always welcoming son in law, Quinn, her ever confident daughter Megan and her loving son Ben. Yes, so much to live for.
Considering her diagnosis, Jen’s attitude has been awe inspiring. She is going after this disease with courage, strength and dignity opting for 3 chemotherapy treatments. After these three treatments, her doctor will be discussing surgery options as well as more chemotherapy. The first of three treatments began yesterday.
Let the journey begin!
I am her brother and lovingly one of her biggest fans. As Jen navigates her fight for life, she is going to experience worry, pain, and suffering. I am hoping all of us who love and support Jen will help her by donating to her GoFundMe page. If we can help remove a little of the financial worry that cancer treatments bring, just maybe Jen can focus on healing mind, body, and soul, all for love’s sake.
Thank you for your prayers and blessings.
