On July 2nd 2022, Jeff Kight was riding his motorcycle on a beautiful, sunny day, with his eldest son riding behind on a separate bike, when a driver pulled out in front of him. His son Caleb was unharmed, but Jeff was critically injured and life-flighted to Geisinger. Almost 3 months later, he died on September 22, 2022 from the injuries he sustained.
An employee of Pennsylvania College of Technology, Jeff spent a month in Geisinger's Trauma ICU, and a month in UPMC's TBI Rehab, before being transferred to a nursing home. He was shortly thereafter re-hospitalized, and finally transferred to The Gatehouse, where he spent his final days surrounded by his family.
Jeff’s two sons currently attend Pennsylvania College of Technology and work full and part time jobs; and his wife Christine is re-emerging into the workforce to support their family.
While the family anticipates receiving eventual compensation from the party responsible for the accident, that settlement may take years to process, and attorneys have suggested the settlement will likely be "hopelessly inadequate" to meet Jeff's medical expenses. Additionally, Jeff's untimely death precedes the completion of the boys' education. These challenges, which the family will surely overcome, present significant immediate needs, that I wish to draw your attention to, on their behalf.
As a dear friend of the Kight's, I humbly ask you to make a contribution, to help them through this difficult time.
*This family photo is the best the family has of them all together, although the boys are now 18 and 20.
