Jeff White Memorial Skatepark

Tax deductible
In 2012 US Army SPC Jeffrey L. White was KIA while deployed with the 501st Airborne in Afghanistan.

Growing up, Jeff was a talented and inspirational skateboarder, arguably the best among his peers. Jeff's style was a combination of technical skills and big-gap skating. He was fearless and refused to quit. Jeff was part of a large group of young local skateboarders who dreamed of one day enjoying a skatepark in Pacific, Missouri. A dream that still exists today...

In late 2021 a new conversation was sparked about building a skatepark in Pacific, Missouri. Previous conversations and attempts to appeal to the City of Pacific had not succeeded. However, in 2021, the conversation involved an idea to build a skatepark in Jeff's honor. The City of Pacific was receptive to the idea and issued a challenge, "Are you willing to contribute to the work?"

The Jeff White Memorial Skatepark Project is a volunteer-based collective dedicated to the mission of raising 25% of the total cost of building a skatepark. This is accomplished through community outreach, fundraising, and online donations. We have partnered with The Magi Foundation, a local 501(c)3 organization, to assist in obtaining charitable, tax-free donations.

Our efforts have gained overwhelming support from citizens, social clubs and businesses in the Pacific and the surrounding communities. We have partnered with the City of Pacific to create a plan for obtaining the full $500,000 estimated cost of the skatepark. The funding strategy includes a 25% contribution from the City of Pacific, applications for grants, and community fundraising.

In 2022 the City of Pacific hired the American Ramp Company to conduct a survey about desired design features, provide an opinion on potential sites, and create a design.

The American Ramp Company provided a design concept based upon real local skateboarders’ feedback, set into the hill
side in the center of the Community Park in Pacific. The design is intended to provide a space that fosters learning, without reducing options based upon regular and goofy stance skateboarders.

Jeff White Sr., Jeffrey’s father, offers these words of support…

"I would like to encourage people to donate to the building of this skatepark in Pacific, MO. We are honored that the organizers want to memorialize the park in our son's name. Jeffrey loved to skate and he would be so proud of the commitment and drive of the community to get this done.

For those of you who didn't know Jeffrey, just know that when he started something, he was bound and determined to see it through to the end. He had no quit in him. He was in the military as a part of the 501st Airborne Infantry based in Fort Richardson Alaska. He was deployed to Afghanistan in December of 2011 and was KIA there on April 3rd, 2012.

Even though he was our son, he was a soldier for all of us. I think building this park in his memory not only recognizes his sacrifice, but the sacrifice of all those who have served and those who continue to serve. For those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, there is no way we can ever repay them. This park is just one way that we can try to show our gratitude.

Please donate if you can and be proud that you did your part to honor our military.

Thank you"
