JCG & VCJ Jersey to London Nightingale Run
Donation protected
A group of sixth form students from Jersey College for Girls and Victoria College Jersey are attempting to run the distance from the Jersey Nightingale Hospital to the London Nightingale Hospital, in order to raise money for the charities Caring Cooks and Brightly. Both of these charities are working hard to provide meals and supplies to vulnerable people during this time.
Caring cooks aim to provide nutritious healthy meals for people and families who are financially struggling and who struggle to cook for their families due to work load. Brightly is a charity who support children from the ages of birth to 25 years old living in the care system. At the moment they are trying to support lots of children and young adults who are unable to work or who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and keep them safe by giving them food vouchers and topping up their phone bills so they are able to keep in contact with the outside world.
In order to raise money for these 2 great charities, a few students from the JCG and VCJ sixth form will attempt to run the distance from the Nightingale Hospital Jersey to the Nightingale Hospital in London (approximately 600km) across the 6th, 7th and 8th of May. In order to adhere to the current social distancing and lockdown rules, each of the students will run as far as they can within their 2 hours of daily exercise and during their allocated time slot, but are to remain in separate parishes.
Any donations and support would be greatly appreciated and will make such a large difference to people struggling to afford the basic necessities. Health care workers won't have to worry about coming home and cooking a meal for their family after long and stressful shifts saving lives and people struggling financially wont have to worry about how they are going to feed their families.
29/04/2020 Update: Saltgate - a foundation parter of Victoria College and close sponsor of Jersey College for Girls - have generously agreed to match all funds raised for this campaign! We would like to thank them for their contribution as we are sure the chosen charities will be overwhelmed by their charitable donation.
01/05/2020 Update: In light of exceeding our original target, which Saltgate Giving agreed to match fund, we have decided to increase our target to £5,000 and Saltgate Giving has very generously agreed to increase its commitment to match fund up to £5,000.
