Marquette Community Day - Back-to-School Event

Marquette Community Day (MCD) is an educational, informational, and sociable event. MCD was formed to address the opportunities, resources, fellowship, concerns, and burdens that the citizens, local business owners, community organizations, and families face within Dutchtown located in South City St. Louis, Missouri.
In August of 2017 MCD was able to joyfully help over 300 families with the awesome help of the people within the community, social organizations, and businesses from the community and outside the community. Mr. Markus Haskins and Ben Robinson Jr joined hands with Marquette Recreation Center in hopes of making this event unique, welcoming, and resourceful to any and everyone who came. Mr. Haskins and Mr. Robinson both grew up in the neighborhood of Dutchtown and both attended and graduated from the local Roosevelt High School located on Hartford and Compton in South City St. Louis, Missouri.
This event is set up to help the children and families who live in and outside of Dutchtown. Within MCD there are a host of things going on. MCD provides a backpack giveaway with school supplies and more stuffed inside them, job opportunities from various employers, healthcare services, clothing and shoe giveaway, food, mini animal zoo, performances from local artist, sports events, haircuts and styles, and the inclusion of bridging the gap between generations!
This year’s goal for the 2021 MCD is 500 backpacks, which is an increase from the previous year's backpack give-a-way. On behalf of Mr. Robinson and Mr. Haskins, we respectfully and humbly appreciate any donations that you may provide to Marquette Community Day. Any donation you can contribute whether it's school supplies, backpacks, or currency will be greatly appreciated.
