My name is Joe Bright. I am a Goliad P.E. Teacher and go above and beyond helping students have fun while staying physically active in school. I also run Joe Bright Basketball Training, a program for local area students to help improve their basketball skills and knowledge of the game on and off the court. The program focuses on building character and leadership skills. Joe Bright Basketball Training isn't exclusively for basketball skills and the conditioning and footwork, it a sense of family, a safe place to achieve knowledge about the game and life.
What Joe Bright Basketball Training does now carries over in the long run towards the kids individual and team dreams. In addition, it can be beneficial for other sports, and the lessons learned in the program can carry over to other areas of life. The program has done amazing community work by offering a free school supplies drive, food for kids drive, Pop up shop give away, and reading night for kids where they read for the elementary schools of Big Spring. This program has touched over 100 kids from all over West Texas with the primary focus being the kids of Big Spring, Coahoma, and Forsan. I have purchased property in Big Spring and now I’m hoping to get support to build a medium size facility that the boys and girls can call home to continue the great impact Joe Bright Basketball Training has done.
I am originally from Minnesota where I graduated high school. I later attended Howard College and played on the 2009-2010 National Championship team. After graduating with my Associate's Degree, I attended Stephen F. Austin where I continued my college basketball career, and earned my Bachelor’s in Kinesiology. The Grand Chapter of Texas Order of The Eastern Star recognized me for my service to the community this past year where I was also recognized as “Rising Star” with a great group of people Nicole Doose, Jody Reid, and Eric Escamilla. The Grand Chapter of Texas Order of the Eastern Star is a fraternal organization composed of women with Masonic affiliation and Master Masons. Their members share a belief in the existence of a Supreme Being and promotion of the principles of Brotherly Love, Belief, and Truth.
My purpose in telling my story is to show you that I am committed to excellence, the community, and the kids and understand that hard work pays off. Thank you for hearing my story.
