Hiii! My name is Jayde and I have a little coffee/sandwich shop selling local makers gifts based in Wrexham.

This summer I’ll be closing the shop for a month and embarking on an adventure.

Working with the charity ‘Network for a better world’ (Register Charity No. 1151591), I’ll be travelling to Malawi, and supporting communities whose villages have been ravaged by cyclones over the past 2 years.

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, with extreme poverty everywhere. I will be based in the remote village of Sitima, only accessible by dirt track and 50 minutes drive to the nearest town.

I’ll be getting stuck in helping to repair damaged buildings, share some of my craft skills with the local community and no doubt pick up lots of new skills myself!

So here’s my ask…

This trip is entirely self funded. I am raising money towards the cost of my flights, subsistence when I’m there and for some equipment we will need to support the villagers in rebuilding their school and other community buildings….

In Sitima, the children sit on dirt floors in a classroom with no furniture, no blackboards with a roof at risk of collapse…. Could you imagine sending your children to a school like that? We’re working to make sure these children get the start in life they deserve.

I am originally from Wrexham but before opening my shop I worked for a travel company. Now after 5 years back in the UK and 2 years of having my own business I’m eager to get stuck into a project where I can make a real difference as travelling and helping others are my 2 main passions in life.
