Hi, my name is Jennifer Ramirez and I'm fundraising to help alleviate some financial burden. Some of my friends and family that have followed my heart warrior's story have stood by our side emotionally and for this I am very grateful . As we approach Jayden's 6th months of life, we have started to talk about and prepare for his 2nd open heart surgery. For those of you that know me on a more personal level, you know that my life took a complete turn, and I have had to make many changes to be able to better support my baby on his journey. I have always worked multiple jobs to support and maintain my family and because of his medical condition, and all of his medical appointments, I am forced to be more of a stay at home mom. By staying at home and working very little hours, I am available to be there in case his condition changes, also to monitor him around the clock. We all know that with no income it's unrealistic to live a normal life. I am here asking for monetary support while I prepare for the next few months. As embarrassing as it is for me, I have to admit when I need help and this is a time of need for me. I would like to be able to be by Jayden's side while he goes through this traumatizing experience and recovery process. I am not able to do this while my bills stack up. Although we are blessed to have state medical insurance (over $130,000 has already been paid out) that, unfortunately won't stop my other bills from stacking up. I would also like to be able to afford anything extra that he might need during his recovery. Any help would be greatly appreciated Also please share if you are able to. This is a life Iong battle, and while all I can do is keep my faith, pray and stay positive, I ask my village for a little help during this storm. Thank you so much
A little back story:
At 22 weeks pregnant I was informed that the baby I was carrying had a congenital heart disease. I was given my options and informed it would be a very long, hard and bumpy road.
On January 9th 2022, Jayden was born at 10 pounds 4 oz. It was a very traumatizing birth experience. He even broke his arm during vaginal delivery. Jayden was immediately take to Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit where he right away got an Echo exam to see how his heart was doing. After careful consideration, the Cardiovascular team determined that the baby didn't need an initial newborn surgery. The rest was a waiting game. At just 4 days old after the baby had morphine for pain, he had an adverese reaction to the medication that cause the baby to start coding. He had 2 episodes where life saving techniques were used to save his life. ( we later did testing that determined he has problems with how some medication is metabolized. Some medication can even be poisonous for him) After 2 long weeks of him being closely monitored, after 2 long weeks for feeding attempts and making sure his weight gain was maintained, we were released from the hospital.
Exactly a month later, on February 9th during one of our weekly clinic visits Jayden had an Echo. I still remember like it was yesterday when the doctor came in the room to tell me that the newborn surgery we thought he wasn't going to need, was indeed needed. The doctor told me he would be surprised if he went more than 24 hours without the surgery. On February 10th Jayden had a heart surgery where a shunt was put in place. On February 11th he went back in to get his chest closed. Again the waiting game began. Jayden even had to learn how to eat again. Several chest xrays performed, echoes, team of specialists monitoring his medications, and 2 weeks later he was discharged! He had proven to be indeed a real warrior!
May 18th, 3 months later we have started to talk about his 2nd heart surgery. The next step is for him to get a cardiac Catherization. He will be admitted to the hospital for 2 days. Based on the findings, he will be scheduled for surgery. My heart is not ready, all I can do is hold my son close and pray that God continues to keep him strong.
