Jaws of Life for a Volunteer Fire Department
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and anyone who feels a connection to the Fire Service,
My name is Trevor Soffin and I am a Volunteer Firefighter at Golden Gate Fire Department in Golden, CO. The Golden Gate Fire Protection District serves 1200 Colorado people living in 450 homes in an area of 50 square miles. We also serve various recreation areas including Golden Gate Canyon State Park, Centennial Cone Open Space Park, White Ranch Open Space Park, Mount Galbraith Open Space Park, and Colorado Department of Wildlife lands.
I have never met a more selfless, dedicated, and tough group of men and women than the firefighters at my department. Due to the geography of our district, we respond to a wide variety of unique calls to serve our community. These can include anything from backcountry helicopter rescues and wildland fires to motor vehicle accidents and calls for medical aid, to name a few. With limited funding, we are called to serve and execute at a high level, no matter what the situation calls for.
I feel an extremely strong desire to donate and aid my department, not only with my time as a volunteer but with new tools to help serve our community. I'm taking the initiative here today to seek funding for a set of battery-powered rescue spreaders and cutters. Follow the link below to see them in action:

In the photo above, I'm using hydraulic cutters to remove a car door during a vehicle extrication exercise. I realized immediately how impactful these tools are when used to quickly help victims of car accidents. Speed is critical. Battery-powered rescue tools will allow us to act more quickly in vehicle extrication scenarios than their hydraulic counterparts and their portability means that we can use them in difficult to reach locations when a need arises.
If you feel compelled to support our department and community, please donate! It's for a great cause and your contribution will directly impact the lives of those who we serve in the future. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Trevor Soffin
