Hello Friends, Family and Community!
It is with a heavy heart that I bring news of an unfortunate event that happened today with one of my kids in my classroom. One of my students (Keon) had to go through the traumatic experience of his home burning down today due to a fire. This morning, he was online working virtually with everyone and unfortunately during our lunch break, his grandmother's home (where he lives) caught on fire ...just a few blocks from where I live.
This tragedy affects the Jarrett family as they are now displaced. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but they lost everything in the house fire. My student, did not have a coat or shoes on when he had to leave his house today. In our school, we support one another and we are always there to help. And Keon was no exception. He was the one that always shared how much he loved his family, his classmates and his dogs and cats! He told me this morning that he could not wait for the holiday break so that he can have a great Thanksgiving meal with his family.
Since Keon has been an inspiration to our class, the class wants to help Keon and his family in their time of need. However, WE NEED HELP! As we enter this holiday season, and winter nears, this family will need food and supplies as they face this difficult event in their lives during a time where families and loved ones come closer together. If you are able to donate ANYTHING, so that we can help this family get things that they need, it would be a major blessing to them and our school community. ANY donation amount will help and be appreciated to help them get back on their feet as they deal with this tragedy. Please keep Keon and his family in your prayers as we help them navigate this unfortunate event. Thank you for your time and may love and light shine bright upon you!
