Welcome to the Jarhead Jenny Challenge!
A family friend is training at Marine Corps Boot Camp in San Diego. My wife and I are trying to encourage her with a fitness challenge by getting into shape ourselves!
We have 6 weeks to pass the dreaded Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test - in time for Jenny's graduation!
What's the cause? We're raising money for Jenny's fellow recruits. We'll help pay for the parents to travel to MCRD to see their young Marine graduate.
Marine recruits at MCRD San Diego can hail from as far away as Detroit, so travel costs can be large. All proceeds from this challenge go to the MarineParents.com Travel Assistance fund, a 501(c)(3).
Our dream is to make sure every Marine who volunteers to serve their country gets the proper honors as they graduate. They're fighting for us, and they should have their loved ones with them to celebrate their achievement and sacrifice.
The Marine Corps turns 250 years old this year, so every donation of $25 will gain you admittance to the Jarhead Jenny Challenge.
My wife and I will put out daily workouts and fun challenges, and keep you informed of our progress.
For those that can spare $50, we will name a workout after you, or after a veteran of your choosing, from any era. We will be happy to honor them with a social media shoutout on the day of the workout.
(Please note: Challenge participation is not required, and you may donate any amount you like. Also, "Jenny" is not her real name. She is projected to graduate Nov 7. U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Jacob B. Hutchinson, sourced from Military.com)
