Update from the Rametta home:
They say It takes a village to raise a child. That means caring people coming together to do whatever positive things they can to help support, teach, guide and inspire the child. Thank you so much for your generous contributions to help these beautiful girls and their future.
My loving parents Sebby and Lisa have stepped up and taken 9 year old Danielle into their home and committed to raising her. She has her own room and slowly she becomes more at ease in her new home, becoming best of friends with Honey the puppy.
She started St Teresa Catholic school, where her Aunt Lisa is the religious coordinator, on February 3rd looking adorable in her uniform and has already started making friends and sharing snacks. Initially the work was overwhelming and difficult with homework taking 3 hours to complete. Since February 20th Danielle has a daily tutor, Ms. Borik, a 2nd Grade teacher at St. Teresa, to help her catch up with her schooling after not attending missing school for a while. This tutoring has made a very positive impact on her performance and, most importantly, she wants to learn and go to school because she is understanding the lessons and passing tests.
Danielle was Baptized Catholic as an infant and is now on the path to complete her Catholic Sacraments. She has been trying on her Communion outfits and is excited to receive her First Holy Communion on May 2, 2020.
It’s been wonderful to see her on her new scooter in the park, enjoying cooking with the family and doing arts and crafts with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Sebby. Her favorite breakfast is waffles and Nutella!
Janine started College of Staten Island and is working towards a Bachelor Degree with thoughts of becoming a Guidance Counselor. She is a full time student and working after school. She is determined to be an independent woman.
We thank you and your friends for joining in our village to help these girl achieve their potential. All your loving donations help to fund the school expenses, clothes, activities, support, and the costs of all their basic needs. These gifts are truly appreciated. We will continue to keep you updated on the village help raising these wonderful girls.

On January 9th, 2020, nine-year-old Danielle Coan watched the ambulance take her father away. Janine and Danielle spent their lives in the shadow of his addiction, and are now faced with a future without their dad, Joseph.
The opioid, heroin, and fentanyl epidemic has tragically swept the country, leaving families in complete devastation. Navigating the system for mental health support, addiction recovery, grief counseling, and guidance is incredibly difficult. Asking for help can be even harder.
There was no plan set for their future, no life insurance, no college fund, no home or apartment, and very few belongings. To keep them from going into the foster care system, family members have taken them in. The sudden expense of two new children is staggering. We are hoping to help them obtain a new-normal, and enjoy their life.
There has been an outpouring of love and caring for the welfare of these girls. We want to give those who are able the opportunity to contribute to a fund that will provide the necessities Janine and Danielle will need going forward. The intention is to help pave the way to their bright futures in the wake of their father’s death.
We truly and deeply appreciate any and all donations.
All funds will be directed to the care, education, and support of Janine and Danielle.
