Janeth Needs Your Help: Facing Uncertainty

My wife Janeth is one of the unfortunate ones that came to the U.S. seeking asylum and a better life immediately after her son, a special forces Captain, was killed while conducting drug raids against the FARC cartel. She entered legally but unfortunately overstayed her visa date. We have been married since 2017 and have followed the law in trying to secure her legal paperwork all this time, and nothing we tried has been successful. Several lawyers and tens of thousands of dollars have not helped.

She does have an active deportation order that we have asked to be reconsidered by the federal judge and the committee above him with no relief. We have asked for congressional help, and the response changed nothing.

At this point, she has exhausted all legal efforts to stay in this country with me and must do the right thing and self-deport back to Colombia. She has always worked very hard. Her job in Colombia was a commercial accounts manager at a bank. There are no benefits with this position as she decided to stay at home and raise her two sons.

When she returns to Colombia, she has absolutely no income or hope of finding work at 65 years old. She has some family, but they are not able to do much for her as it is a third-world country.

Hopefully, she might start a very small business to help her survive, but this is not guaranteed.

What a wonderful person she is that came to our country the proper way, and because of the political climate now, she has exhausted all avenues to remain here and be a productive citizen and pay taxes as she should.

My family and I have done everything possible to help her stay here with us as she should.

I hope you have had the chance to meet her as she has always helped others and is such a good person.

I am continuing to help her the best I can, but if you might be able to help in any way possible, it would be greatly appreciated!

I do not require any assistance as this is solely to help her not be homeless and alone when she steps off the plane.

I have done my very best to help others. Otherwise, what are we doing here if not to help others in need?
