Jane Whittington Memorial Scholarship
It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to our dear friend, Jane Whittington. A beloved member of our Sangha, she passed away suddenly on August 11th after hiking in the mountains with her wife Gisela.
Jane had just recently become a published author and been accepted into UBC on a scholarship. For those of you who knew Jane, know she had an irrepressible spirit and huge tender, loving heart. Jane was a truly amazing, deeply generous, and inspiring person. She lived an incredible, rich, and wild life.
Jane told us many times how Anuttara Ashram had been one of the first places that she'd ever felt accepted in her life. She spoke of how the community and way of life has been pivotal for her in her transition.
We have decided to create a Scholarship Fund for transgender people like Jane. This Scholarship will be used to help support Transgender and Queer folks in joining Anuttara and Anuttara programs without any cost.
Your contribution however big or small will help to support Transgender and Queer folks in spiritual pursuits in safe, accepting and supportive environments.
